I perform and teach Scottish Gaelic songs and tunes on the harp, sing them, and can sometimes be convinced to play the fiddle. Based in Seattle and Vancouver BC, I am thoroughly immersed in the local Gaelic scene. I also love Irish music, and really should spend more time playing Cape Breton fiddle tunes.
In addition to performing and teaching, I am often hired to be the Fear an Taighe (master of ceremonies) at céilidhs. If you don't know what a céilidh is, there's a page all about them linked below. Helping people get up in front of their friends and family and share something they love takes a gentle but firm hand, a quick wit and a disapproving glance for those who chat during performances. I have all three.
When called upon, I teach people Scottish céilidh dances. |
